The full list of postgraduate research fees for new students enrolling at 皇家华人 for the first time in the 2021 to 2022 academic year.
These fees are for new postgraduate research students starting in the 2021听academic year.听Unless otherwise stated in the programme notes, the published fees are only for the first year of study and the fees in subsequent years听may increase to reflect听UCL's increased costs in delivering the programme, such as operational costs, market forces and inflation. Any increase in fees won't听exceed 5% per year.
EU students
The UK has now formally left the EU. Students from the EU, EEA and Switzerland who start their programme of study in 2021 or later will no longer be eligible for the UK (Home)听fee status and will pay fees at the Overseas rate.

Jointly delivered programmes
Where a programme is jointly delivered with another university or college, the tuition fees may be set by the other institution. If that is the case, it will be noted with the programme listing below.
Non-Resident PhD Programmes
A deduction of 拢1,500 from the full-time fee听and a deduction of 拢750 from the part-time fee听will be applied to both UK听and Overseas students.
Study leave
Fees will be charged at half of the full-time or part-time UK听fee, depending on your听registration status.听
Additional Fee Element (AFE)
A minority of PhD students听have to pay an AFE, which covers additional costs not included in the tuition fee listed below. The AFE includes consumables, equipment, materials and other items, but doesn't include听student visas.听As each PhD is unique, your AFE will be specifically calculated听by your听supervisor. Please contact your supervisor听for advice on whether听you will pay an AFE.听Your offer letter will also confirm听any AFE you will be required to pay.
There are five bands for AFE charges:
- Band 1 is 拢1,000
- Band 2 is 拢2,500
- Band 3 is 拢5,000
- Band 4 is 拢10,000
- Band 5 is for variable amounts above 拢10,000
