Raimundo's Retirement

Many members attended the Strawberries, cream & Pimm's social event where there was a surprise presentation and a song in Spanish for Raimundo Navarro of the Housman Room bar. 聽A card and gifts had been bought for him on behalf of all members. Raimundo retired at the end of June 2023 and will be much missed.

In the session 2022-2023 a new series of events was introduced. "Housman Talks" were very well attended and the ASCR Committee has decided to hold a second series in the new academic year.聽

In addition, an ASCR beer tasting will make a return in Term 1!

Bar food service and opening times from September

From Monday 4th September 2023 the bar will return to its normal opening hours of:

  • 10am to 7pm Monday to Wednesday
  • 10am to 8pm Thursday and Friday

The hot food service will also return on 4th September.

ASCR AGM (Annual General Meeting)

The AGM聽is on Wednesday 15th November 2023, and as always will be followed by a curry dinner.

Improved access to Eduroam in the Housman Room

Over the summer the wifi equipment in the Housman Room was upgraded so members should notice improved access from all areas of the Housman Room.

You are reminded that:

  • No loudspeakers should be used in the Housman Room. If you are by yourself and planning on holding a Teams meeting, watching a video or playing a sound recording then please make sure you have headphones on. If you have other people with you in the Housman Room you will need to find another location if you want them to listen to the audio as well.
  • Staff who are not members of the ASCR are not entitled to be signed in as guests. Staff of all grades have been eligible to join the ASCR since 2012, so meetings involving non-members should not be held in the Housman Room.聽
