His PhD, entitled ‘The normalisation of Islamophobia in Czechia through mainstream political discourse and its effects on post-2015 Czech public opinion on ‘Muslims'’ was examined by  (Lancaster University) and Dr Jessie Barton Hronesova, Lecturer in Political Sociology at SSEES. Carlos’s supervisors at SSEES were Prof. Anne White, Professor of Polish Studies and Social and Political Science, and Prof. Richard Mole, Professor of Political Sociology.
