Armina Omerika (Goethe University of Frankfurt) will present a talk on political Islam in Bosnia, entitled 'Renegotiating Tradition: Islamic Discourses of Post-Dayton Bosnia and Herzegovina' as part of the Centre for South East European Studies at »Ê¼Ò»ªÈË SSEES.

Armina Omerica completed a PhD in Islamic Studies at the Department of Oriental and Islamic Studies at the Ruhr University. Since 2005, she has been teaching and researching in the field of Islamic and Historical Sciences (Universities of Bochum, Erfurt, Basel, Frankfurt, Hamburg, St. Lawrence University, Canton / New York, USA). From May 2013 to November 2015 Armina was Head of the post-doctoral group "Knowledge and methods transfer to Islamic Studies" at the Institute for the Study of Culture and Religion of Islam at the Goethe University in Frankfurt. Armina is a former Visiting Professor of Islamic Studies / Islamic theology at the University of Hamburg (summer semester 2014), Research Fellow of the Volkswagen Foundation and the Gerda Henkel Foundation, and member of the plenary of the German Islam Conference 2010-2012.
