Zagreb Noir is an outstanding collection of noir-ish and harrowing tales, each set in a distinct neighbourhood or location in Zagreb.


Editor Ivan Sršen has curated a diverse, powerful, and dramatic group of stories that offer tremendous insight into the perspectives of contemporary Croatians. Zagreb Noir is one of many ground-breaking noir anthologies that Akashic Books launched in 2004.

Darko Macan (Zagreb Noir) published more than 40 science fiction stories for which he was awarded the acclaimed SFERA award four times. He edited seven collections of Croatian science fiction stories. His children novel Books Lie! received the Grigor Vitez award.

Neven Ušumović (Zagreb Noir) writes short stories and novels. His was featured in the American anthology Best European Fiction (Dalkey Archive Press, 2010), which was edited by Aleksandar Hemon.
