Brexit - New Safety Markings

27 January 2021

New product markings have been introduced to reflect the fact that the UK will no longer be part of the CE marking scheme.

The UKCA (UK Conformity Assessed) marking is a new UK product marking which covers most goods which previously required the CE marking.

The new marking requirements do not apply to existing stocks, so it is likely that the CE mark will be around for some time yet, until stocks are exhausted. However, after the end of 2021, CE only marked machinery and equipment will not be sufficient. It will be required to be UKCA marked.

Category II and III PPE (such as safety footwear) will need to be marked with a new UKCA mark.
