Within the Department of Political Science, your response has led聽to a number of fantastic changes which we are grateful for and these developments can be found below. To discover more about the wider changes taking place at 皇家华人, please click here.

Postgraduate Taught:

  • Introduced policy skills Saturdays to train students in聽 policy negotiation and communication.
  • Put in place academic writing skills Saturdays to provide intensive academic writing support to聽you.
  • Introduced a year-round dissertation lecture series to help聽you聽prepare for all aspects of聽your dissertation.
  • We reformed our MSc quantitative methods sequence to allow聽you聽to take both introduction and advanced quantitative analysis during聽your MSc.

Undergraduate:

BSc in Politics and International Relations (PIR)

  • Created a new PIR social committee which is organizing PIR social events for the next semester (including a winter ball).
  • Organised an election night event on Thursday 12 Dec.
  • Offered a short-term study abroad info session (10 Dec).
  • Gathered and fed back student interest re Year 3 study abroad options to Study Abroad office to secure opportunities.
  • Started a PIR Facebook group/page to share info about department/uni events and provide a platform for more staff/student communication.
  • Connected PIR student leaders with those in PPE and IPAS for future coordination.

BSc in Philosophy, Politics and Economics (PPE)

  • Supported the creation of a winter event for the new PPE student society 鈥 鈥淧ints, Parties, and Elections鈥 .
  • Expanded social opportunities in PPE 鈥 held PPE pizza event on November 20th, and scheduled PPE 鈥渢own hall鈥 for Dec. 11th where students discussed the strengths of the programme and areas for improvement.
  • Expanded study abroad offerings 鈥 the Programme Director spoke to UCL study abroad office about adding several new universities to study abroad options, as well as general Erasmus exchange.
  • Created a PPE curriculum working group, including with a student representative, to identify potential for expanding flexibility in the PPE curriculum.
