Dr Han Wu from UCL CNIE has had her first Science paper 鈥淢edium-density amorphous ice鈥� published.

鈥楾his is the first example of an in-house SAXS monitoring of a cryopreserved sample under vacuum, where technical barriers were overcome by making our own cooling device with non-standard operation. There are some really nice stories about this special amorphous ice and its weird properties. SAXS is a key technique to directly measure its structure from extremely low temperatures around -180掳C鈥�.
This project was led by Prof Christoph Salzmann, (UCL Chemistry), Prof Andrea Sella (UCL Chemistry) and (University of Cambridge Yusuf Hamied Department of Chemistry) with important contribution from CNIE SAXS facility at the UCL Department of Chemical Engineering.
