There are no alternative credit options available for this module.
The module aims to make sure that all students, whatever options they may later choose, have studied certain major works, and have so gained a preliminary idea of English literary history and its main movements from the early modern period to the present. In addition, the module introduces the study of narrative in the poetry and fiction of this period, and gives students experience of studying complete and complex works in a relatively short time. Works are studied in chronological order.
