Description

This module is designed to enable the postgraduate to become acquainted with methods of assessing a potential implant case and clinical steps and skills to be able to place and restore dental implants in straightforward cases. Topics included; assessment of implant cases, simulated surgery, simulated prosthetics. The operative techniques, including gingival manipulation and implant placement are simulated in pigs jaws and plastic jaws, respectively. There is also a simulated, laboratory based, prosthetic component to implant restoration. Task sheets are provided with report templates for completion of the details of the technique carried out and the postgraduates will submit this record for assessment as well as presenting their findings to the peer group.
