This module is normally taken as a compulsory course by second year students on certain single or combined honours Mathematics degrees, who have taken MATH0009 Applied Mathematics 2: Newtonian Mechanics and MATH0011 Mathematical Methods 2. It may also be taken by students from Physics with a good result in MATH0043, affiliate students or students from other sciences with a suitable background. .

Description

How does a plane fly? How fast do waves move on the surface of water? What is the Severn Bore? With applied mathematics it is possible to give quantitative answers to such questions: this course deals with the simplest cases of fluid motion and is the foundation for more advanced study.
