Description
Pharmacists are healthcare professionals who are experts in medicines, with a detailed understanding of the scientific basis of therapy. The MPharm programme integrates pharmaceutical science into the practice of clinical pharmacy, providing an education that equips graduates with the competencies and knowledge to provide safe and effective patient care. The non-credit-brearing Clinical, Professional and Scientific Skills modules form a vertical stream that runs throughout each year of study within the programme, assessing the successful acquisition and development of the requisite skills, competencies and professional attributes expected at each stage of the MPharm programme, to the level of competence required by the GPhC learning outcomes. The Clinical, Professional and Scientific Skills modules include few formally timetabled teaching and learning activities beyond module-spanning and essential skills workshops, but allow students to demonstrate, on a pass/fail basis, completion of and/or competence in key tasks and activities required for progression through each stage of the programme. The proposed Year 1 Clinical, Professional and Scientific Skills 1 module focuses on fundamental and foundational skills and attributes that underpin the programme, including numeracy, professionalism and CPD, study skills, academic integrity, engagement and laboratory safety.
