Description
The module introduces the context in which major infrastructure projects are proposed and developed, revealing different market structures and models to bridge the global infrastructure gap. It also presents key frameworks from project and general management, unpacking the characteristics of major infrastructure endeavours (e.g. complexity, scale, political nature) and their differences from regular projects (e.g. long-term vision, regional and national outcomes).
Aims of the module
The module provides a theoretically grounded understanding of the market and globalization context in which those complex organisational endeavours are embedded (e.g. policy, economic, regulatory).
The students will develop their critical thinking about the managerial implications of delivering major projects in those contexts, following an enterprise (organisational) rather than project approach.
