Professor Virginia Mantouvalou, Professor of Human Rights and Labour Law at »Ê¼Ò»ªÈË Faculty of Laws, spoke at an international conference on ‘The Capability Approach Meets Labour Law’, at the University of Toronto on 20-21 October.
Professor Mantouvalou examined the right to work in her talk, and argued that the right should be understood not only as a right to non-exploitative work, but also as a right to meaningful work. To support her argument, she relied on the theory of capabilities of Professor Martha Nussbaum. The papers of the conference will be published in 2018.
