The IoN-DRI programme is sponsored by Professor Alan Thompson, Dean of the UCL Faculty of Brain Sciences, and organised into different workstreams, each of which is sponsored by senior leads from across UCL.

Making decisionsÌý

UCL CouncilÌýhave ultimate accountability for the programme, including financial control.

IoN-DRI Executive GroupÌýgoverns and oversee delivery of the programme,Ìýand includes senior academics and senior management for Operations, Finance and Estates.

ION-DRI Steering GroupÌýreports to the Executive and oversees and shapes the direction of the programme.

Infrastructure Programme Board is aÌýleadership forum for the delivery of the construction elements of the programmeÌý

Strategic Delivery Group is made up of representatives from Queen Square Institute of Neurology, UKÌý Dementia Research Institute and the National Hospital of Neurology and Neurosurgery. They meet monthly to discuss how the new building is being designed to ensure it meets their needs and how it will need to operate once opened.

The programme also operates with a number of additional strategy groups and workstreams providing senior academic/organisational leadership over different elements of the programme.

Organisations in the building – leads

The new facility at Grays Inn RoadÌýwill be home to three bodies: the UCL Queen Square Institute of Neurology, the UK Dementia Research Institute and the UCLH National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery.

Programme team

The programme team are responsible for ensuring that oversight is provided through reporting, governance meetings, budget tracking, issue and risk management and key review points to ensure the programme can successfully move to its next stage of delivery.


Construction team

The construction team oversee the delivery of the new state-of-the-art building on Grays Inn Road and the renovations of IoN’s laboratories and office space within Queen Square House.

Transformation team
