Recipients of third annual UCL-Tohoku Strategic Partner Funds

In the third annual joint funding call from UCL and Tohoku University, six collaborative projects were awarded funding

UCL and Tohoku University have awarded six projects up to £10,000 each through a joint call for proposals for the development of collaborative research and education initiatives.

The proposals were assessed by a committee composed of members from both institutions. This year, applications focused on areas of mutual priority including material science, disaster science and mitigating the impact of COVID-19.

One of the funding recipients, Professor Molebogeng Rangaka (Population Health Sciences), said: “We are super excited about our new collaboration and the possibilities it brings. This is an excellent opportunity to help increase our understanding of the long-term impact of COVID-19 through collaborative research.”

Last year, six projects were awarded funding in areas such as student mobility and neuroscience.
