Are you enjoying your studies in the Computer Science Department at 皇家华人? Then why not apply for our brand-new Student Ambassador scheme?!
All current undergraduate and postgraduate students are eligible to apply, whether you recently started or have been in the Department for a while.
Our team of Student Ambassadors will play an essential role in inspiring the next generation of Computer Science students, both at home and overseas.听The Computer Science Student Ambassador Schemes are an opportunity to develop a wide range of transferable skills, including public speaking, content creation, customer service and communication.
The scheme also offers the chance to gain valuable experience working on projects and events. These varied experiences will also enhance your CV.
The hours are flexible to suit your individual study timetable, and you'll receive training to help you in your role and receive support throughout your time as a Computer Science Student Ambassador.听The hourly rate for all Computer Science Ambassadors is 拢14.28 (plus 拢2.67 holiday pay).听听

Friends of UCL Computer Science Ambassadors
The Strategic Alliances Team (SAT) in UCL Computer Science manage the exciting new 鈥楩riends of UCL Computer Science鈥� initiative designed to cultivate stronger ties with supporters across industry and academia, including current students and alumni.鈥�
Within the Strategic Alliances Team, we are excited to announce openings in a pivotal role aimed at actively engaging with student societies and supporting compelling events for our current students, alumni, and industry supporters, including charities.
Friends of UCL Computer Science Ambassador role
This role includes:
- supporting events (managing with registrations, invites, welcoming guests etc)
- ad hoc creation of digital content听(social media content, photos, blogs)
- liaising with student societies.听
Projects are on an ad hoc basis and hours would vary depending on the project. If your application is successful, you will need to attend a (paid) training session.
International students are encouraged to apply. However, please be aware that if you hold a student visa, you are only permitted to work a total of 20 hours per week during term time, including any work undertaken as a Friends of UCL Computer Science Ambassador.鈥�

Innovation Ambassadors听
The Strategic Alliances Team (SAT) at 皇家华人 Computer Science in collaboration with the UCL Hatchery and the UCL I/O Lab Programme organising team, are excited to announce opportunities for鈥疘nnovation鈥疉mbassadors to join our mission.
This initiative is part of our commitment to nurturing the鈥痠nnovation鈥痑nd entrepreneurship culture within the Computer Science Department. Our goal is to build a vibrant community that supports both students and academics/researchers, fostering an environment where ground-breaking ideas can flourish.
About the Innovation Ambassador role
鈥齁oining us as an鈥疘nnovation鈥疉mbassador, you'll be pivotal in:听
- working (in a paid placement capacity) directly with student startups and academic spinouts on the technical development of product/service prototypes, turning innovative ideas into reality.听
- engaging with the SAT to promote鈥痠nnovation鈥痑nd entrepreneurship, contributing to the creation of a supportive ecosystem for budding entrepreneurs.听
- participating in events and workshops aimed at fostering a community of innovators within the Computer Science Department.听

Digital Student Ambassador (closed)
Do you love听social media and creating content for platforms like听Instagram, TikTok, X, and YouTube? The Digital Student Ambassador role enables students who enjoy creating content and engaging on social media to get paid for what they love.听
We are looking for creative, social media-savvy individuals who will create a range of different content to offer support, encouragement and advice to prospective students and their families.鈥疶he role will be varied and requires you to reflect on different elements of student life, including how you decided to study your chosen degree, what the realities of studying a Computer Science degree are and responding to Q&A from enquiring students.鈥�
Key activities will include:听
- Producing video content, written content (blogs) and photography to showcase your degree and life as a Computer Science student.听
- Collaborating with the Computer Science Communications and Marketing Team by proactively pitching content ideas.听
- Discuss and share your education experience, acting as a positive and enthusiastic UCL role model for Higher Education and student life.鈥��
- Deliver consistently high levels of communication and customer service with prospective students.鈥�听

Student Ambassador (closed)
Computer Science Student Ambassadors support the work of Computer Science's Communications and Marketing team, particularly around Student Recruitment. Activities are varied and include:听
- Assisting with Open Days - both virtually and on-campus.听
- Giving presentations in schools and colleges about your Computer Science experience.听
- Representing Computer Science at Higher Education Fairs.听
- Taking part in on-campus events for local schools/colleges and prospective postgraduate students.听
- Marketing activities - writing blogs, etc听
- Responding to student enquiries via our online messaging service, Unibuddy.听
Unibuddy is a platform听, enabling prospective students to chat with you. You can access the platform via an app, so think of it a bit like WhatsApp. As a current student, you know more than most about what prospective students are going through and how valuable it can be to speak to someone who has been through a similar process. Via Unibuddy, you can give students a genuine insight into your student experience and provide much-needed reassurance.鈥痀ou will usually spend 1-2 hours per week working on the platform, and we would expect you to do the following:听
- To answer questions from students about study, life and your experience at 皇家华人 and within the Computer Science department.
- To help students find the correct information and contact details for particular departments and/or people at 皇家华人.听听听
- To check your account daily and answer questions in a timely manner.听听听
- To keep conversations going and build up a friendly relationship with students.听听
- Opportunity to create blogs and vlogs about life with the Computer Science department, which are hosted on the Unibuddy platform.听
We're looking for enthusiastic and confident students keen to share their Computer Science experience with prospective students and their families.听听

Outreach Ambassador (closed)
The Computer Science Outreach Team听work to widen higher education access for underrepresented groups. To do this, they work with numerous organisations, schools, communities and students of all ages (Pre- and Post-16). As well as听increasing听diversity, the scheme aims听to improve inclusivity and raise awareness of the UCL Computer Science Department courses and research.
The Outreach team would not be able to carry out all these activities without amazing mentors and is now looking to recruit Outreach Ambassadors. The role is varied and will involve delivering presentations, leading workshops, visiting schools to talk about the Computer Science Department, supporting young students and ensuring events and projects are delivered effectively.
If you want to become an Outreach Ambassador, the application deadline was听Friday, 2听February.听Interviews (online) are expected to take place between 5听and 9听February.
