In conducting a platform trial, the following questions often arise.

  • Would several databases or one be more efficient?
  • Should the trial have one protocol or a modular protocol?
  • How should a new comparison be opened whilst the trial is running?
  • A comparison is closing, should this be communicatedÌýto all participants?

This course will discuss these and other major issues in running a platform trial.

The Conduct of Platform Trials providesÌýcomprehensive coverage of how to conduct a platform trial from set-up to reporting, particularly focussing on the aspects that are different or more difficult compared to a more typical two arm randomised controlled trial.

The course is a mixture of didactic sessions and activity-based sessions and is targeted towards trial managers, data managers and those writing databases, particularly those with experience of typical two arm randomised controlled trials. It would also be useful for Chief investigators and statisticians interested in the operational aspects of conducting a platform trial.

After this course, attendees will be aware of and have the learning to address the extra major issues to consider when setting up and conducting a platform trial.
