Lamia Khaled Al Saikhan

I completed my bachelor degree with first honour in Cardiac Technology at Imam Abdulrahman Bin Faisal University (IAU) in 2014, Saudi Arabia where I was born and raised. I was then offered an academic

position from the same university where I worked between the university teaching cardiology and its teaching hospital as a clinical instructor training junior students in echocardiography as well as cardiac catheterization. During this year, I was awarded a postgraduate scholarship including MSc and PhD from IAU by which I joined Imperial College London and graduated with a Master of Science (MSc) in Medical Ultrasound [Echocardiography] with distinction in 2017. I was honoured to be awarded the Faculty of Medicine Dean’s Prize and promoted to a lecturer at IAU. During my time at Imperial, I was able to further develop my knowledge and interest in my subject area inspired by the research-based education as a method of learning and exploration. I was successful in securing my position at »Ê¼Ò»ªÈË at early stages before awarding my MSc, and published my MSc thesis in a prestigious high impact journal.Ìý

Currently, I am doing an MPhil/PhD Cardiovascular Sciences degree program at »Ê¼Ò»ªÈË under the supervision of Professor Alun Hughes, Professor Rebecca Hardy and Dr Chloe Park. My PhD involves incorporating novel cardiovascular measures in relation to adverse outcomes in populations with multiple risk factors predisposing to heart failure. I am working with a multidisciplinary team of expertise in various aspects of cardiometabolic disease and aging as well as with national and International collaborators. I have a strong interest in clinical research and I am looking forward to contributing to the field in the near future.Ìý
