Dr John Hales' Research Group

This group is focused on developing new analytical technologies that will support the manufacture of cutting-edge biopharmaceutical products.

Dr John Hales
We are developing new analytical technologies that will support the manufacture of cutting-edge biopharmaceutical products so that these medicines are both safe and efficacious for patients.

We are currently developing a new virus-laser system for monitoring the upstream process in close-to-real-time, and we are demonstrating applications for our TRIFLE technology in downstream processes.

We want to use our technologies to solve the most-pressing challenges in biopharmaceutical manufacturing.  To realise this vision, we work collaboratively with partners from industry and have spun-out a company from UCL, Roxijen.

Our research activity is expanding: we have funding to recruit a post-doc in the biophysical characterisation of genomic medicines (see link below):

The group is funded by a £1.2M Future Leaders Fellowship (MR/T02156X/1).
