History of Art Society
The Society is a communal space for students with similar interests in arts and culture to come together in a welcoming environment of social and subject-related events. We host conversation and听intellectual and creative activities in an accessible way. We host many events, including exhibition visits, life drawing, charity book sales, film screenings, networking socials and听talks by field experts.听You do not have to be studying in the History of Art Department to .
Committee
The committee of History of Art Society is elected through online nominations and elections on the Students鈥� Union website, with听participation from听a wide range of students, not only those from the History of Art Department.听
Yige Wang - President

My name is Yige. I am a third year History of Art student and the president of History of Art Society. My current research focuses on European religious paintings during the Protestant Reformation. Engaging both visual and doctrinal materials, I investigate the tensions and paradoxes between Christian theology and iconology. I enjoy adopting modern methods such as feminist theories and gender studies in my research, to synthesise the historical past and the present into a coherent whole, enabling a critical reciprocity within historical dialogues. I love reading ancient moral philosophy, political theories, Catholic and Protestant theology, and analytic philosophy.
Cheryl Kwan - Social Secretary

Hi! My name is Cheryl and I鈥檓 the Social Secretary for the Society. I鈥檓 currently a second year History of Art student, and my role primarily involves communicating with our members and managing social media! I鈥檓 a huge fan of landscape/nature paintings and recently I鈥檝e also been researching into and writing about contemporary Asian art.
I'm also a Student Ambassador for the Department, and you might see me at some upcoming Open Days.

Charlotte Menag茅 - Treasurer
Hi. I鈥檓 Charlotte. I鈥檓 going into my third year studying History of Art听and will be this year鈥檚 Treasurer.
At the moment, my favourite artwork is Cloud Ghost by Richard Riemerschmid, and I鈥檓 also loving Bauhaus!

Hi I鈥檓 Lauren and currently going into my third year for BA History of Art. I鈥檓 so excited to be your Welfare Officer this year. We鈥檝e been planning a lot of new fun events that are well-rounded both academic and social, so everyone gets the chance to know one another!
Although I do not have a favourite artist at the moment, I鈥檓 currently interested in the late 19th - early 20th century and its art movements - especially the relationship and engagement between pioneering artists, dealers, and collectors.
