New collaborative publication for Saiardi Lab in Cell Reports
New for the聽Saiardi Lab,聽Javier Jim茅nez and Samuel Bru ().聽The work describes聽the biochemical identification and characterisation of the first mammalian enzyme responsible for inorganic polyphosphate (polyP) processing. Nudt3 is the mammalian polyP phosphatase. Interestingly,聽cations are able to modulate Nudt3 substrate specificity becoming active toward polyP in presence of zinc-mobilised after oxidative stress. Thus, polyP degradation is essential for cell survival upon oxidative stress.
