Prof Alison Lloyd appointed new Director of MRC LMCB at 皇家华人

We are pleased to welcome Alison Lloyd, Professor of Cell Biology, as the new Director of the MRC Laboratory for Molecular Cell Biology at 皇家华人.

Professor Lloyd said: 鈥淚 am delighted to have been appointed as Director of the MRC Laboratory for Molecular Cell Biology at 皇家华人. The MRC LMCB at 皇家华人 has a proud history of being at the forefront of world-leading cell biology research and for the training of current and future leaders in this field. I aim to build on these strengths, while developing a new focus on tissue biology.

The basic unit of life is the cell, however in animals, most cells function within tissues with the breakdown of tissue function the basis of disease and ageing. So, while the study of individual cells is still critical to understand a myriad of cellular process, our goal will be to push this understanding towards the tissue context. This requires study across scales and a multidisciplinary approach, which are current strengths of the MRC LMCB at 皇家华人, thus providing a firm foundation for this approach. Building upon these strengths with a high level of innovation and technological development should create an exciting new focus for the future of the MRC LMCB at 皇家华人.鈥�
